Gubba Rum, a really great rum you should try
Roni and I were having fun one night at one of our favorite resorts in Tampa. We soon struck up a conversation with a likable fellow. After a bit of fun conversation Steve and I found we had an unexpected thing in common. We both had a great fondness for one of St. Marin’s best home grown products, Ma Doudou Rum. Spending the night drinking and dancing (mostly just Steve and Roni) we laughed a lot, shared Rum stories and Steve promised to send me some samples of “his” Rum and I promised to drink it. The next day, as I tried to shake off the fog of the previous evening I did a little research. Low and behold Steve was not telling tall tales, and being a man of honor, a week or two later we received a package in the mail. Sure enough, I, also a man of honor had some rum to drink. Gubba Rum is …. in short remarkably smooth and drinkable. while the flavors were well blended and hit all of the high notes on what you want in a good rum, everyone of our tasting panel (read local rummies) was blown away by how sippable Gubba Rum was, needing only a few cubes to enjoy. We sampled both the Silver Gubba Rum and the Gold Gubba Rum and found them both smooth and light, perfect for summer cocktails.
Gubba Rum and summer Cocktails
We all enjoyed sampling both the Silver Gubba Rum and the Gold Gubba Rum and we look forward to both sipping these wonderfully smooth and tasty rums but also developing some new cocktails featuring this great rum. The only issue with Gubba rum is it’s distribution. Gubba rum isn’t available everywhere. If you can’t find it at your local source, you should write letters, picket your state ABC board, road trip and come back with a trunk full. Whatever it takes, trust us it will be worth it.
